What is Folk + Field?
Folk + Field is a multi-faceted venture inspired by nature and the seasons. It brings together a collection of projects: a membership community, courses, events, two annual weekend retreats, and more yet to be revealed. Our work takes place both online and in person, and everything we do is rooted in a deep desire to bring likeminded people together to celebrate the beauty and wonder of the natural world.
Who runs Folk + Field?
It’s a joint collaboration by Eleanor Cheetham and Maddy Lawson.
Eleanor was the founder, editor, designer and publisher of Creative Countryside magazine from 2017-2019 and is now a creative writing mentor specialising in non-fiction. Find our more at www.creativecountryside.com
Maddy is a coach for creative women seeking slower, more purposeful living. She’s currently studying for a masters degree in Coaching and Mentoring Practice, with a research focus on the ways in which nature and the seasons can shape our lives and work. Find out more at www.aslowadventure.com
What’s the difference between all the things on offer?
The Folk + Field Community is a monthly membership for anyone who wants to (re)connect with nature alongside a group of kindred spirits. Members receive: a quarterly journal full of seasonal inspiration, invitations to two free meet-ups per year, access to a library of online resources (with new items added each month), a private Facebook group and a 10% discount on Folk + Field retreats and events.
A Seasonal Year is our signature course, designed to help creatives and small business owners bring their working patterns into alignment with the rhythms of the natural world. It’s a 12 month programme, which can be studied entirely online or as part of a small group that meets in person every season.
Our weekend retreats are standalone events that take place twice a year in spring and autumn. Each one offers a unique and immersive seasonal experience - always carefully crafted to leave guests feeling connected, nurtured and inspired. Anyone is welcome to attend, but members of the Folk + Field Community get early access to tickets as well as a 10% discount.
I’m new to slow and seasonal living - where should I start?
You’ve come to the right place! We’d recommend you start by browsing our blog and subscribing to our Wheel of the Year letter, which is sent out roughly every six weeks to mark the beginning and high point of each season. You’re also warmly invited to join our free Facebook group, Wildhearted Creatives, where you’ll find a whole community of likeminded friends waiting to welcome you. Once you feel at home, consider becoming a fully-fledged Folk + Field member or joining us for one of our weekend retreats!
